RV4 Files

Postby kettennatter » Sun Mar 13, 2011 3:33 am

After downloading headers there will be a lot of RV4 files in Spool_V6 directories.
Is there a programm wich can store these files in storagedata.db3 file ?

please help

it means your disk cant keep up with the download speed and insertion speed of ther rv4 into the db3, you need to leave newsbin running to make them insert, you need to restart a header download and then they will be inserted into the db3

To clarify, after you download the headers, Newsbin is busy behind the scenes inserting those rv4 files. Basically, let it do it's job - it takes varying amounts of time depending on your system and disk speed and just how compress-able the posts for that group are(millions of sporge trashy single files will take significantly longer than a more moderated group with lots of compact-able sets). If you happen to ask to load up a given group that hasn't inserted it yet, Newsbin will still load the non-inserted rv4's for you on the fly. As Richy mentioned, if for any reason you somehow stopped Newsbin from doing the insertion, the next header download, it will pick it up.

It probably worth mentioning that Quade has mentioned he still wants to revisit the whole spool insertion process before final. At the moment, as I alluded to, particularly sporgy groups can take a *really* long time to insert. Why you would want such a group is debatable, but still, it warrants a look.

Re: RV4 Files-auto shutdown

Auto shutdown has become a questionable feature when you consider unprocessed auto par and now RV4 files.

Would you be able to incorporate shutdown AFTER these processes have been completed? Or give the user a choice of shutdown "features?"

Certainly if the final ends up with the processing the way it currently is(spool insertion will almost certainly be revisited), then it makes sense to let the spool and autopar processing finish before shutdown.

What kind of problems? You seem to imply that just having RV4's is the problem. You machine can't insert them as fast as they download. Wait and they'll eventually all get inserted. If you restart newsbin you might have to download headers again to re-trigger the import.
