I see this is supposed to be working in b7, but it isn't for me, and I don't see any option to enable it. Any ideas?

And after 3 retries.

What's the rationale for this approach? My other newsreader (Forte Agent) automatically assembles incompletes as it downloads them, with no delay or intervention required. With Newsbin, I have to manually assemble incompletes to turn the .NB2 files into something QuickPAR can deal with. Didn't have to do that with Agent, and I don't understand why I would want to have to jump through this extra hoop with Newsbin. I just verified this by downloading the same set of files in both programs. Agent downloaded the files, and they were ready for QuickPAR, with two files requiring repair for being incomplete. Newsbin left two .NB2 files that I had to invoke "Assemble Incompletes" on. After doing that, I was able to use QuickPAR on the Newsbin download.

The rational is that if it is a recent file, then the reason it is incomplete may well be that its upload has not yet finished. Some uploads get spread over quite extended periods of time. For older files this will not apply, which is why they get assembled without the delay.

If you want to shorten the delay, then this is configurable via the .nbi file - look in the Advanced section of the User Guide for the settings required.

OK thanks, but these files I tested with are dated 3/26/2010, almost one full year old.

ETA: I checked out the .nbi file, and I see [Settings]AutoAssemble=0. Will try setting it to 1 and see what happens.

I exited the program, set [Settings]AutoAssemble=1 and saved the .nbi file, and restarted Newsbin. I downloaded the same set of year-old files, and two files seem to be stuck in perpetual "Downloading" status, with retries and new logging messages "430 No such article" occurring every minute. One progress bar is solid yellow, and the other has just one red sliver. Every minute, the red sliver turns white, and then back to red. I watched this happen at least 10 times. MaxRetries is set to 3.

OK, thanks. Is there supposed to be an UI to configure the feature? Reading the docs, there were some options in the Settings/Advanced tab in v5, but they seem to have gone away in v6.
