Do I need to start a new signature file with V6?

Postby DaveXVI » Thu Jun 23, 2011 6:06 am

Since switching to V6, my signature.db3 file seems to be the same size as it was in V5, and the date on it is the current date, but its performance in stopping the downloading of files that were already downloaded under V5 is spotty. It seems to stop some, but not others. I've verified that the files are identical, byte for byte.

Is there some kind of conversion from V5 necessary? Also, how big is too big for the signature file?

Afaik it should just work, mine did iirc, and in theory there's no maximum size for the file, but of course there has to be. Instead of me guessing, you could just throw out the size. Keep in mind every single file you download has to be checked against that file. I personally delete mine every 8 months or a year just to keep performance up. Depending on your usage, yrmv.
