Download Path displayed on Groups List tab

So I've got a folder containing a few groups.

The download path displayed for the folder is d:\nb\nascar [as specified on the group properties settings]

The download path displayed for each group is d:\ [matching the Download Folder setting in Newsbin Options/Setup]

Files downloaded from each group are placed (as desired) into d:\nb\nascar\<group name>.

Shouldn't the Group List Download Path for each group be 'displayed' as d:\nb\nascar as it inherits from the Group Folder unless overridden?

I'll check it out. It might depend on what the parent's group is set to.

The parents Use Download Path is set to d:\nb\nascar.

Use Download Path is not checked for each of the newsgroups in that folder. So they inherit from the parent. But their displayed path = Newsbin Options/Setup - D:\

I don't see anything wrong.

- If you load a folder it'll use the folder's settings or the default path.
For example, I have folders of groups with a common topic. I typically want to load all groups into a single post listing so, I almost always load the folder and not the groups.

- if you load one of the groups and it has a path set, it's path is used,
- if it doesn't have a path set, the parent folder is checked. If it has a path that path is used.
- if neither one has a path set, the default path is used.

So, the path it uses is dependent on how you load the group.

Edit: I might see what you're saying. The display isn't reflecting the parent inheritance. Maybe if the individual group is loaded it shouldn't look to the parent at all for a path.

Right, the inheritance isn't reflected. Personally, I like the current functionality where the folder used is not dependent on how the newsgroup is loaded.

So, when displaying the path, just examine the individual group properties. If Use Download Path is NOT checked, check the parent. If Use Download Path is not checked in the parent, display the value from Newsbin Options/Setup. Then the value would reflect what will actually happen.
