My Filters file is empty now?

Postby gomez » Wed Oct 26, 2011 8:31 am

I just noticed that during one of the upgrade installs of a Beta V6.1 my filters.db3 file ended up empty. Can someone post the default filters.db3 file with the sample filters and the global filter in it. Thanks

If you go into the filter options, you can just add a "Global". I don't think we have default filters any more. Global should be there though so, that's odd.

I'll ask Dex about default filters and the installer.

[.]exe

In the filename and subject reject is probably a good idea. Still lots of the spam hides EXE's in rar files.

The upgrade doesn't touch the existing filters.db3, only a clean install will give you the default filter list. Not sure why your disappeared.

Here's a link to the default filters.db3 file. Close Newsbin, copy it into your Newsbin Data Folder, then start Newsbin and it should be in place

Thanks Dex, I'd lost the default filters in the process of upgrading previously and hadn't worked out why. I thought they'd been removed. I'd love it if someone could work on some additional filters.

Edit - I've just upgraded to the latest beta and they've gone again. I re-did the step above and still not there. :?:

Make sure Newsbin is closed when you copy the filters.db3 file into the data folder.

I'll try to recreate this issue but the last time I tested it, it worked fine for me i.e. upgrades didn't touch existing filters.

Seems they were there but for some reason they got disabled in the upgrade, using the enable/disable button brings them back. Sorted I think.

That's possible. Quade messed with the default settings so some things may have changed from what you had before.
