WSARecv Socket Error Code: 10060

Didn't see this posted so started a thread for it.

Is this something with GN or is it a setting I have wrong? I haven't changed anything since earlier versions of newsbin and it all worked, these are recent with 6.41, 6.42b2 and 6.42 build 2146

Typically this means your software firewall is killing the connections. I'd configure it to ignore Newsbin. Tco ports 119, 443 and 563

This Win8 fw is set to allow Newsbin, both tcp and udp. The router is forwarded on the ports you mentioned. Earlier versions of Newsbin didn't have this problem. Nothing has changed on the host machine that I use, the only thing changed is Newsbin version.

No port forwarding is needed. I don't know if this can cause an issue. Newsbin just needs to be able to connect to the server, about the same way a web browser does. There are no incoming connection when using usenet.

Oddly enough, these errors don't usually start until an unrar operation begins. The whole time it is downloading files, I can see the different color in the progress window for EN and GN servers and doesn't get the errors when the download starts, if it was a fw issue wouldn't it error right away? It connects to both servers, and gets parts from both, but only throws the error warning when it starts un-rar.

I would just turn off any and all firewall, antivirus, or any other software that is designed to get between you an the outside world and try to reproduce. Odds are it will go away. Then enable one by one to isolate the program causing it. Usually it's just something simple like an overzealous antivirus, which can be very hard to disable in many cases, btw.

There's no phone home during an unrar so that's probably a red herring. Well, there's no phone home during any operation. Newsbin maintains a connection to the server for a while so perhaps something is cutting that short.

Also, if you've upgraded or replaced a router or it's firmware, that might be related, too.
