1 - You need to be using 6.60B12 or newer.

2 - In Newsbin in the remote NZB Source settings:

- Set Username and Password to something.
- Leave API key blank, doesn't work in B12 yet.
- Set the port to an unused port. I use 8000. If you have problems you might want to change it to 9000 or something oddball like that. This is the port Sonarr uses to talk to Newsbin. The default is 8080 which is fine as long as you're not running something else that already uses 8080.
- Set the unrar folder. I'd suggest a dedicated unrar path for Sonarr. I'd probably keep it as a simple path with no $(XXX) additions.
- I'd restart Newsbin after making these changes.

If you change the port, you need to restart Newsbin. All the other settings can be changed on the fly without a restart.

2 - you setup Sonaar by adding a "Download Client". Tell it the new client is SABNzb (which is the protocol Newsbin emulates)

1 - Settings/Download Client
2 - Click the + button.
3 - Pick SabNZB
4 - Give it a name.
5 - Set the username and password to be the same as in Newsbin
6 - Make sure the port is the same.
7 - I left everything else alone

With Newsbin running, try to "test". It should say everything is OK as long as you set everything the same on both sides.

That's basic setup. At this point Newsbin should accept NZB Files from Sonarr, download and report back (well Sonarr talks to newsbin and asks it about the download).

You can run it remotely too. For example I have Sonarr running in a VM and Newsbin unrars to this VM. Setup for that is more complicated. I'd probably not try that just yet until things are really solid.

Since I've done this and if I ecide to manually download a file it has suddenly started to only donload the sample and not the whole thing. What would cause this and how do I fix it?

I'd try a different NZB. It's actually a different bug in B12. It'll be fixed in B13. It shouldn't be lumping the samples in with the rest of the files.

You can re-add it and just download the RARS and PARS too.

It has happened with every NZB I download manually but the problem only started after I set it up to work with Sonarr.

It's not Sonarr. It's any NZB with a specific "sample" format in the subject. Maybe Sonaar just happens to pick these NZB's. I've downloaded a decent amount with Sonarr with B12 and it's not happening to me. That's why I believe it's just a problem with the specific range of downloads.

I'll try to get it B13 into the forum Monday.

It's not happening if I use Sonarr. It only happens if I start NBP manually and load an NZB file. I then right click on the file name and select download but it stops once it's got the sample. Only started happening yesterday.

I see it too using Sonarr and NBP. Some but not all nzb's will load only the sample file. I checked the nzb and it has all the rest of the rars needed. I'll wait for b13. Also retested on Win 10 and when I added $(NZBFILE) to the unrar folder, everything is working properly again. I was just putting it into a flat folder like I used to with the blackhole implementation.

NBP B4012 on Win 10. It now takes the nzb with files, sample and parfiles and creates to entries in the download que- File+pars and Sample+pars. It adds one entry to Sonarr activity queue which is correct. Remote nzb unrar folder set to c:\filename\$(NZBFILE). Finishes download but unrars to c:\filename\$(NZBFILE)\$(NZBFILE)\files. Sonarr deletes the last $(NZBFILE) level and I am left with an empty directory c:\filename\$(NZBFILE). I've gotten one stsus update to Sonarr on a 150 MB file before it finishes updating. I'm going back to win 7 for further testing as I think we may have too many variables at play.

NBP B4012 Win 7. Activity basically the same except NBP puts 2 entries into Sonarr Activity queue and only one gets deleted after download. The otther has an error saying no files found eligible for import (since they had just been deleted). Still have problem of unrar path having a double $(NZBFILE) length ie c:\download\$(NZBFILE)\$(NZBFILE) . The correct filenames are correctly substituted.

c:\filename\$(NZBFILE)

You want a naked path for the unrar folder. Remove NZBFile. B13 adds the NZB Filename automatically without this.

I've gotten one stsus update to Sonarr on a 150 MB file before it finishes updating.

Sab was the same way. The smaller the file and faster the connection, the fewer updates you'll see. I don't consider this to be an issue.

The only thing I see wrong is that you need to remove NZBFile from the unrar path. I probably need to strip it out when people set it too.

HI guys, I have just followed these steps to configure Sonarr, it seems to be connected great so thank you so much for this info :) Problem now is it will not find anything I search for, is this something I need to add to Indexers too?
I have an unlimited Newshosting account so I thought using this with Newsbin would be perfect - What am I missing?

Thanks for any help

Typically you need an indexer. Sonarr doesn't search through Newsbin.

Hi Quade, thanks for that - If I buy NewzNap will that do what I need or do I need?
Thanks

EDIT:
I've just found NZB Planet, a VIP account should do all I need I think :)
