search gives me
problem contacting search server
supernews and usenet
I dont think I have changed anything
newsbin 6.72
where do I start?

I just tested this with 6.56 and it's working. I also tested it with 6.80 and it's working.
You're sure you're running 6.72?
We moved the search server to a different host so I'm wondering if you're being blocked because of the new IP address?
Are you doing this from home?

This suggests the connection is going through so maybe it's not blocking. Dex is out for the moment. When he gets back, we can look at the search logs.
Are you getting this while searching or when you try to add something to the download list?

I currently have the same issue, but with version 6.42 Build 2148. Unable to search at the moment. Tested 10 seconds ago.
Do you suggest I download the latest version of NewsBin Pro?

Same thing.
ERROR: SSL Negotiation failed, Host: is.newsbin.com Error: SSL Connection Failed: 1 Error 0 The operation completed successfully.
And a second Window:
Problem contacting the Search server. Please contact technical support.
Newsbin 6.51 Build 3162
Same settings I have been using for years.

Upgrading to 6.73 resolved the problem.

Anyone running a version of Newsbin prior to 6.60 will have this issue. The security protocols in place prior to that version (SSL) were deemed insecure and we no longer support them on our servers. This went into effect on June 20, 2017. More info in the
