When is it time to throw in the towel on a post?

I notice that some of my d/l attempts can retry 10 or more times (N:15 for example)

Then, inevitably -- it becomes obvious that they aren't going to complete so I delete them from the queue.

Sometimes however I notice that the PARS haven't downloaded and are paused. Occasionally if i start the pars downloading then it will start auto-correct and unrar.

What's the best practice strategy here?

Not sure why sometimes they get stuck in the download list and other times they just give up and move to the failed list.

My "Max Retries" is set to 2.

Welcome any advice.

Do you have "aggressive assembly" checked? that makes It give up pretty early. What version are you using?

6.82 will fail a download when more than 10% is missing, so it early exits files sets that have been removed from the news server. It tries particularly hard with files that have PARS though. I see cases where the PAR says everything is good but the rars themselves won't unrar. That's kind of a gray area.

I could imagine that making it hang in the download list.

Yes I have aggressive assembly checked. What would you recommend? Should I uncheck?

I'm running 6.82RC3 build 5133.

I don't mind newsbin giving up if things aren't right on the news server. I'm just not sure if there's anything I can do before hand or if I should continue to wait.
