Filter Switches

Postby TBlack » Wed Jan 21, 2015 9:38 pm

Just noticed the Filter Switches are gone in 6.60. Those were very convenient to disable certain Filters either temporarily or indefinitely. Any chance of bringing those back? I really miss those :(

Thanks
Tom

In the Filters Profile Window. There were selections to enable or disable the each of the filters after selecting a Profile. Would have to load the previous version to be precise.

I don't think that'll fit with the current scheme where they're all lumped together. You're probably talking about the check boxes to disable specific types of filters in each tab.

I'll have to think about it. That's all been pretty much gutted. Might be better making a temporary copy of a filter and deleting the parts you don't want. When you do "new" you can use an existing filter to preset the new one.

Yes, the check boxes. Those were really convenient. Please bring them back. Actually, there was nothing wrong with the previous layout.

Thanks

If you don't want to bring back the Check Boxes, then consider adding Drop Down Choices, i.e. for a current filter there would be a Drop Down under the Status Heading. The Drop Choices for each filter entry would be: Accept if, Reject if, Disable. This would allow switching a current filter from Accept to Reject and visa versa as well as disabling the Filter temporarily or indefinitely.

There's no actual mechanism to disable them. That said. I think it's a good idea. I'll think about it.

After thinking about our discussion on this topic, I think having all filters for a category, i.e. Global, all on one screen is a better idea and form. I think deleting a filter (because of no switch) for testing is arduous compared to 6.55, etc. I also hope you will hook up the Test Button (I use the test button a lot in Watch List area) and allow resizing the window as mentioned previous.

Thanks for your consideration and discussion :)

Yeah test is on my list. It's not going to be simple. That's why I haven't done it yet. I want it to highlight every filter that matches when you run test.

Sounds like a really neat and professional approach. Look forward to see it.
