Newsbin 6b2 - Installer halts on SSE2 requirement.

Hi,

I thought that I'd already seen a bug report with this issue; it seems to have been deleted. So, here goes...

When I have tried to install, either b1 or b2, I keep getting the following error message at the beginning of the installation process:

I'm pretty sure that my hardware supports Newsbin v6. All previous versions (v5.xx) have been fine.
So, I took a s/shot of my hardware readout:

So, am I missing something obvious, or is there a genuine bug?

Cheers.

Sounds like an installer bug to me. Looking at your screenshot it clearly states support for SSE2, but beng an AMD processor maybe this is not being detected correctly.

32 bit version won't need SSE2 when it's released. I'll ask dex to look at this.

It's quirky junk like this that steers me away from considering AMD CPUs every time I upgrade my processor.

Well, that and the fact they suck....

I used to be into AMD when they had the first 64 bit CPU's. I could never get a PC as reliable as an intel based one. There was always some quirky shit with the AMD's. Wouldn't run at rated frequency, PCI bus was screwed up or weird crashes. I place the blame on the chipsets more than the CPU's though.

Just to inform anyone interested:

This problem seems to be solved now.

Just installed 'b5', without problems, although I did still get the ' SSE2 warning' dialog box - so just 'ok' it.

Cheers.
