B7 does not remember what it has already downloaded

Postby Andreas » Fri Mar 25, 2011 6:00 pm

B7 does not remember what it has already downloaded. Steps to reproduce:

1. Search for something in Internet Search.
2. From the result list, download a post.
3. Search for something else in Internet Search.
4. Search for the same term as in step 1 in Internet search.

Expected result: In the result list, the post which you have downloaded in step 2 is marked as downloaded.
Actual result (bug): In the result list, the post which you have downloaded in step 2 is marked as new.

Sorry if this issue is already known. For me, this is a serious issue.

Is this not the same behavior as v5?

I think that the issue is if you are using Internet search there is no record kept of what you have downloaded. The duplicate checker would kick in, though, to fail an attempt to download the same thing again. However the duplicate checker works off the first chunk of a download so cannot show status in advance. If you are working off headers then status can be stored against headers so the behavior in that case can be different.

I'm not sure, I don't have much experience with v5. But in the v6 beta series, B7 is the first version which shows that behaviour. For me, this is a killer, because now I have no overview over what i have already downloaded.

Looks like it's broken.

Looks like it is broken. Had to shut down half way through a 35Gig download and went to restart and it started all over again....Reverted back to 5.59 and now works OK again.

That's not what this issue is about. Andreas is reporting that the display of "downloaded" state in the search tab doesn't reflect things you've added to the download list.

It's fixed too.

The way B7 downloads now is, on restart it downloads the first chunk of the partial download, if the file is already on disk and you have a par file, it re-checks it and doesn't download any more of the file. Prior 6 betas would re-download the whole set. In 5.59 , it tracked that the file had been downloaded but, didn't actually check to make sure it was still there on restart. This way is more reliable. It prevents a signature match from stopping the download too.
