Yesterday, I had a minor power failure which caused the PC to shut down.
After rebooting newsgroup & server info were gone. I was using beta 7 still.

Any version of Newsbin, you should occasionally backup the nbi file. A power failure should have killed Newsbin before it attempted to write it out, which it does whenever it shuts down, but in a powerdown scenario, all bets are off, who knows what happened...

Shouldn't there be a last working config backup to return to option built in... somewhere? Just a thought... maybe I am a newb but I didn't see any other way than having to re-input all the newgroups and server info from scratch.

Well, you could have made a backup of the configuration file and simply restored it too. It's a simple text file. There is a configuration recovery mode built in because I know people don't make backups but, it also hunts around in the default folder for an NBI. It might have simply found an older incomplete configuration so, that's why it didn't restore.

In your case I don't know. I've had Newsbin restore the configuration file when the debugger trashed it.

Thanks... I will definitely make another backup on a separate HD from now on. Just in case :)
