Version 6 Beta 10 Available...

Postby dexter » Tue Apr 19, 2011 1:44 pm

A feature from 5.59 has been brought forward into Beta 10, the ability to search the Download tab for items. This feature is also on the Wish List, Failed Files, and Files tabs. A number of other bug fixes and changes have also been made.

Summary:

  • Hooked up ability to find files in Download, Wish List, Failed Files, and Files tabs.
  • Increased frequency of automatic header updates, can be done every 15 minutes now.
  • Fixed usage of Custom Lists
  • Changes to how logging works to help reliability
  • Improved repair and unrar progress reporting

Many other fixes and changes are on the Newsbin Beta Page where you'll find the download link, too.

Changed the minimum header update interval from 60 minutes to 15 minutes

When one can set 1 min update for newsbin via NBSchedule this change just doesnt fit in imho

Overall, nice work, Keep it going

Probably only because I never thought anyone would want to try that so never bothered to check for it in NBSchedule :!:

Hey, guys-

I'm trying to d/l beta 10, and when I try to run the installer I get an error stating that the installer failed integrity check. This has happened using both IE8 and FF4, and occurred on two different computers, one running win7 32-bit, and the other running win7 64-bit.

Anyone else with this problem, or am I just not holding my mouth right?

Gobs of people have downloaded it and not complained so, I assume at this point it's local or maybe your ISP web cache.

I'll tell Dex and see what he thinks.

Any chance you're running the same antivirus on both machines?

Odd that it happened on two different machines. Normally I'd suggest clearing your browser cache and try again. Otherwise it'll hand you the same bad file over and over. If that doesn't work, I can send you a direct link instead of going through the download redirector I use. PM me if you want to try that.

Cleared cache, turned off the anti-virus, d/led using cxn from different ISP, same problem. I'm sure it's not on your end. Odd, though, I can d/l and install other stuff okay. (Just updated ccleaner to clean cache.) I've got a ton of driving to do this pm, but I'll give it one more shot at home, then I'll PM you if I'm still stuck.

Thanks.

I do hope that doesnt mean you gonna remove 1 min interval from Nbschedule?

You knwow, there are people who use it and need autoupdates performed often(within reasonable ammount of time)....

Is it me, or is Ctrl-G disabled for updating new post headers? I always selected multiple groups to download the latest headers and Ctrl-G, but now it doesn't do anything. Ctrl-H isn't doing anything either, but that's because I'm assuming you can now open up the compacted files on the search tab. As for now updating my headers, I just right click, and download latest.

Exit Newsbin, delete the "Workspace.xml" then restart and see if it starts working. It's working here.

Yes sir, that worked for the Ctrl-G. Is the Ctrl-H no longer available? I guess it would be kind of redundant, being that you can now expand the compacted view in the same window

Yeah, Ctrl-H is redundant now. It has been disabled.

Ctrl+V does not work in the input field of Internet Search. Deleting Workspace.xml does not help.

Yeah, that shortcut got lost somewhere along the way. Right-click paste is a workaround for now. shift-ins works too.

It's still there. You most likely have an incompatible Workspace.xml. Close newsbin, remove Workspace.xml and restart. (Unfortunately, while in beta, the shortcuts often get lost when upgrading if you don't reset the GUI as the shortcut IDs change with each build)

Yeah, that's always the answer. When shortcuts stop working, delete Workspace.xml as a first step.

Don't know what you're talking about. Ctrl-R hasn't changed. They always went to the download list for download.

The default is to open a notepad windows but, I have no ideas what happens with you Linux users.

They never used to appear in the downloaded folder of files, they were always temp files that were deleted after reading. Or at least I never remember seeing them in previous versions.

I.e. if I "read post body" of a file in the x.y.z group no file appeared in my folder on the hdd, only a temp one that notepad opened, now I am seeing them in the folder.

They just used to end up in another folder; check .../Data/Read Posts.

I have the same issue with B10, B11, & B12. I turned off my AV (TrendMicro), tried IE9 and Chrome to no avail.

We had someone else with this problem and we think it was due to his ISP caching a corrupted copy. If you can't temporarily connect to the Internet through another provider to test this, I can send you a direct link which may not be cached. PM me if you want the link.
