Post UnRAR Filter: Confusing language

Postby mho » Mon Apr 25, 2011 7:06 pm

Hi,

I tried the Post UnRAR Filter and ended up with (just) a bunch of .sfv and .srr files - not exactly according to plan:-(
To me, a filter matches what is accepted and doesn't match what's rejected.
Apparently, for the UnRAR Filter, you are supposed to use the "Filename Reject" part which I find patently confusing. If the language in AutoPAR options said something about it deleting everything _not_ matching the filter, or mentions that it's files Rejected by the filter that will go away, it would be less confusing...

1 - If it matches the accept filter it's accepted

2 - If it matches the reject filter it's rejected.

First it checks the accept filter and only passes on things that match the accept filter. If empty, it passes everything on. Then any file that matches the reject filter is rejected. What's left is kept.

Accept - If it matches keep it.
Reject - if it matches toss it.

So far so good. What got me was
Select a filter profile and it's [sic!] filename filters will be applied to delete matching files after an unrar

I still cannot really understand that in any other way than that the files matching (that is, accepted by the filter) will be removed and not the rest... Yes, it's a matter of words and expectations; I just hoped that it could be worded better so other people don't get bitten the same way:-)

I imagine you'll be able to figure it out. I'd just use the reject filters though.
