Inet search

Postby cybersco » Sat Sep 24, 2011 2:13 pm

Just wondering if the reason my inet search is failing is due to my release being a few betas back? I think it's 6.10 rc2 that I am using. This just stopped working in the last day or 2?? I will try to upgrade to rc5 and see if that helps....

Never mind.....somehow the group listing got moved from "all groups", and resetting it to all fixed the error. Sorry 'bout that.

I'm trying to do a internet search say for 2011 and what i am getting is only 1 day worth and nothing else. i'm using 6.10 build 1339. Not sure if I have changed anything. I checked it all looks good. I'm lost.

Your term is too generic, the number of results returned is maxed at 2000. You need to pick something a little more specific, like "2011 UNRATED".

I'd set a 100 meg size filter to start and might filter down to just the group/groups that might actually contain it.

I tried both ways. They both work that way. But earlier this week I just typed in 2011 and had it do the internet search and I got everything back to January.

You can keep hitting the button to the right of the search selection dropdown that says "Internet". The button tooltip says "Load older files into the list". Could be there are more posts recently with 2011 in the subject and that's hitting the 2000 limit early.

Well I tried that nothing different. I searched with the word smurfs through the internet no age min and max size display setting none. And I got back 75 items with nothing of smurfs in them .I got Nu Tham Tu Goi cam.mkv and some other files with the similar file naming. I went through all the display settings but still got the same. The files are 3 days to 18 days old. I also doubled checked my setting and they are the same. I must have done something wrong just don't know what.

I'm suspecting there's some filter you've got enabled and you're missing it. I'm getting maxed out on smurfs, going back almost 1200 days. For the record, I've found no entries in that search with 'tham' or 'goi' in them, so something's not making sense here.

In the end, you'll probably need to be the one to figure out what it is, there's probably something right in front of you and you're missing it. The fact I can't get matching terms you claim you have, frankly, tells me you've got the spelling wrong somewhere, or you're trying one thing after another and losing track of which entry caused which result. I can search for tham tu goi, and it goes back over 800 days, just 42 entries, nary a smurf in sight. I'm typing exactly what you say you're typing, and I'm getting different results.

The only other thing I can think of is that we're on different servers, I do beta test, I supposed it's possibly I'm not accessing the public one, but I doubt that.

Hmmm I will go through all my settings. I spelled smurfs the same. Like you said it is probably right in front of me. I'm using Giganews server the US server.I will let you know what i find out. Maybe just clean out my filters and redo them all. Thanks..

There's no connection between what news server you use and what you can find with search.

Well this is what i did. I went in and re-did my global filter. And just for the heck of it reset the server settings don't think that matters though from what you said about the server. Rebooted and everything is working ok. I searched out smurfs and got 1209 files. I don't know what i did but it's working ok now.. Thanks
