We think we finally addressed the memory leak introduced in 6.60. This release has a number of other small fixes/changes as well.

Highlights:

  • Fixed memory leak that turned out to be associated with the RAR reader code.
  • Changes to address potential memory leak issues in display
  • Fixed issue where download path from "Download to New folder" would default to main folder. Now uses group specific path if one exists.
  • Fixed issue sorting on path. Was sorting pre-render.
  • Fixed issue where hide old wasn't clearing the display till it's re-applied.

The complete release notes as well as the download link are on the Newsbin Beta Page.

UPDATE September 19, 2015: This release isn't finding the original guiitems.db3 file which means your filter history and some GUI customizations will be gone.

For some reason it reset the font/sizes when I installed it. Not to the default either, something in 6 point could hardly see it.

That's odd. For it to lose the filter history, it must have lost the guiitems.db3 file. Did you just do a straight upgrade install? Is your data folder in a location other than the default location? What OS are you running? Are you running under wine or in a VM?

As for the date/age thing, your entire .nbi file would have to get reset for that to change. Are you sure you didn't accidentally hit ctrl-t at some time, that toggles between date and age.

These settings would be in guiitems.db3. Are you running a default data folder location? What OS are you running?

Thanks to kenr and mimauk for identifying an issue in this release. It isn't finding the original guiitems.db3 file which means your filter history and some GUI customizations will be gone.

Workaround would be to copy your old guiitems.db3 file to your user ".\my documents\newsbin" folder. We'll change the path back to the original location in the next RC.

I'm running under Wine. Semi default with the Newsbin data folder @ c:\

Why the change to ~\mydocs\nb? Or is this a bug?

Copied over and it looks fine now.

I just put RC3 up. It goes back to using guiitems.db3 from the original location. It's on the Beta Download Page
