We are entering the Release Candidate phase for 6.73. Barring any critical issues, this will become the final release.

Change Summary:

  • Changed config file saving process so it won't send any "olds" to the recycle bin anymore.
  • Change in automation handling to make sure PAR files come first, specifically in Sonarr
  • Fixed issues interfacing with Sonarr for its history reporting.
  • Fixed issue extracting passwords if they exist in NZB files.
  • Increased read timeout for search. Addresses issue some people were reporting with searches timing out if Newsbin was under load.

The download link is on the Newsbin Beta Page. If you find any issues, please reply to this thread or use our Technical Support Contact Form.

I just updated to 6.73 rc1 from the last stable version. I have 2 main problems 1. using the header to download files, it downloads but doesn't unrar and par. it just sits on the download files list. 2. in loggings, I get "[01:24:32] ERROR SM_ListAddNZBData - Failed to read NZB File for import" running down the list.

Please help. Thank you

Just for grins, set it to 3000 and try this again.

FWIW, there's still a long-time minor bug: If you load several NZBs together into one tab, the indicated source group is the same for all posts regardless of their actual group.

says nb673RC1.exe Failed - Network error ????Everything else on computer is working fine, no connection problems. What's going on with newsbin? Already posted in discussion about error trying to d/l anything this morning, no matter what I try to d/l. The last time I gave it a go it said;
[05:11:12] ERROR SSL lib returned error: 0xffffffffffffffb4
[05:11:12] ERROR WebClient: Connection Failed to: is.newsbin.com

to fix ERROR SM_ListAddNZBData try changing your NZB watch folder. I was using my main download folder as my watch folder, I added a new folder in my downloads folder and save nzbs to that new folder, and set the UnRar folder to the original folder so the files end up in the place I'm used to looking.

Yeah, that's not recommended. It should work though so I'll try it.

Some small rar files (last two I tried were 9.5MB and 22MB) aren't downloading properly. They just disappear from the list. It downloads properly when I use the Download - Bypass Filters option. I just checked the Filters, I don't see anything that should cause problems, just the default options. At first the log showed nothing, but after changing it to Debug, it shows a couple messages about there not being enough blocks or files to do anything yet. Then nothing. FWIW, this is when I'm downloading files from Search.

Thank you

Edit: I submitted a technical support form (well, actually two) with additional information.

These are downloading for me but not smoothly. It goes through all retries and all par2 files before it completes but the files are landing. Might be something with how they were posted. I'll get Quade to take a look and see what he thinks.

Yeah, I was going to give a little more information but didn't want to confuse things. It does download the par and SFV files successfully, but the rar file never shows up.

Well yeah, the rar doesn't show up because the contents are extracted and it is deleted. I did your example and got a .sub out of it.

Maybe I am mis-understanding what you are reporting?

You're right about the .rar being deleted, I was actually mistakenly referring to the [.sub].rar inside the original rar (which automatically gets extracted also, leaving a .sub, but newsbin doesn't delete that secondary rar)... I took a couple screenshots to help out... Click on the thumbnails to enlarge them, and I can PM you a non-obfuscated version if that'll make it easier lol.

Here's what I get using the normal download (double click the Search result or right click > download)...
Image
it's just XXXXXXX.par2 and XXXXXXX.sfv, it doesn't download XXXXXXX.rar.

Here's what I get when I use the "Download - Bypass Filters" option.

...

Ahh, finally figured it out... I thought that I had seen these sub files listed as spam a few days ago, but I couldn't find it again when I first posted last night (my bad)...I now see it halfway up the failed files list, and once I deleted the entry it shows back up every time I try to normally download it. And I see a dozen sub.rar files on the list, all marked "Download failed: File is spam or not really a file." All of them were legit files from a legit source. Going through the spam filters, it's failing due to the generic "Fail Spam Files" option.

Lol is there anything that can be changed so it doesn't register as a false positive?

Thank you

You can, just disable the Newsbin spam filter. It's really there to protect new users. If you know what you're looking for you don't really need to have the spam filter turned on.

That makes sense, thank you.

Although honestly even after 14-15 years of using Usenet, I'm still a little weary of risks associated with some of the files posted lol. Obviously NZBs have made it safer, but now that I'm using Search more I'd hate to double-click on/download something by accident... I'll probably just disable the "File Is Spam" option for now and leave the rest.

Well, there are two primary types of spam, one is annoying advertising and the other contains viral content. The newsbin spam filter tries to ID typical posting techniques related to that type of spam but it is not scanning for viruses. You should rely on your virus scanner to pick those up.

As long as you don't launch .exe files you download from Usenet or follow any links embedded in content then you should mostly be ok.
