I have been using the Drone Factory option, as it worked well in the early days, and gave it the path to my download folder from Newsbin.

They recently made the following announcement:

I'm curious if Newsbin handles these other APIs well with Sonarr?

I'm following their directions the best I can (as it's written for SazNZB mainly) to set it up for Completed Download Handling:

Just curious if anyone had any input on this.

I went through the process of setting this up the way they suggest, and downloaded files don't seem to get picked up by Sonarr without the Drone feature being enabled (that they are removing).

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Sonarr should be pulling information about completed downloads directly from Newsbin.

In my testing I never used the completed files folder. Instead Newsbin can tell Sonarr directly where the completed files are through the API. Are you using the API or are you using black hole mode?

This should work. You should have Sonarr set to treat Newsbin like SabNZB so, it uses the API to both send the NZB to Newsbin and monitor download status.

Let me post my configs to rule out anything I've setup wrong.

After lots of digging. I found the solution.

Setting the "optional" category in Sonarr to "tv" fixes it.
