Improvement of password manager

Postby x33o » Sat Apr 29, 2017 7:08 pm

Hell yeah, your password manager sucks :o)
Especially if you got to enter some more more passwords.

When I tested the function ages ago, you could at least use TAB to navigate through the password manager menu, while entering passwords.

But why make it so complicated?

I suggest a button "Grab password".
When activated it copies EVERYTHING (text only) to the password list, which is copied to the clipboard.

When I have to add 3 passwords,
I activate "Grab password"
Than I run through the pages marking the passwords
afterwards I use the copy command
and Newsbin will automatically add the marked string to the password list

Sounds nice!??

You know you can paste the passwords directly into the password text file right?

That said, a button that looks in the clipboard for lines of text and pastes them in isn't a bad idea. Keep in mind that the more passwords you have, the slower the processing will be.

I'll write a note to consider it.

I checked most possibillities:

Manual input with mouse and keys - well it sucks.

An earlier version supported using TAB key - pressed twice to navigate throught the password manager menue.
Worked quite well, but in current release it isn t supported anymore.
And entering like 10 passwords is still slow.

Copying to the password file works nicely too but:
I downlaod the nzb file, copy the password to the password list but newsbin refused to accept it.
File went to failed list because it was encrypted. So I had to reststart newsbin to have him accepted the password. Or just enter passwords and start newsbin afterwards.
Solution: When checking passwords for the first time for the dupecheck - reload the list before checking.
(And reload it 3 times with 5 sec delay - because of the synchronity of the download an the adding password process)

My fav would be to have the GRAB PASSWORD function but also here recheck the password list for new entries.

Using newsbin for 10 years by now - i m completely happy with everything else :)

THX! mate
