Download folder question

Postby bonalymac » Tue Apr 25, 2017 11:05 am

I have set my main download folder in "options" to

D:\NewsbinDL\Download\$(GROUP)\

Many downloads (from headers) seem to come in that way, but others, end up in folders as for example these two

D:\NewsbinDL\Download\Radio\a.b.sounds.radio.bbc\<lots some more folders>

D:\NewsbinDL\Download\a.b.sounds.flac\<some more folders>

As these create 3 or 2 more in-necessary directories, I'd like to tidy that up. Is there a way to keep the path simplified as per my options setting

Many thanks

If I had to guess, I'd guess that these are RAR files and inside the RAR files are embedded folders which are then added to the download folder.

Might be worth downloading a single rar and looking inside with WinRAR to confirm.

Thanks for your usual fast response.

I do not fully understand the subject, but as far as I can see, neither of these downloads involved pars

One was listed as a flac file, one was a pdf. I have UNRAR'd files exported to a different directory via the settings in Option, and neither of these two downloads were moved to the UNRAR directory

If it's not rars than I don't know. Often times your PDF and flac files are inside rars so, that's what I suspected.

Think I've discovered the solution.

I discovered that there were Group properties set for some of the Groups, which had Download folders defined for example

D:\NewsbinDL\Download\Radio\$(GROUP)\$(SUBJECT)

I hadn't remembered that there were individual settings as well as overall options

Ah that makes sense. Sometimes too many options is a bad thing I guess.
