Misssing Headers

Postby Ewally » Tue Oct 25, 2016 5:49 pm

I'm in the process of retrieving files due to a hard drive failure. I am running Windows 10 and NB 6.72. My server is Giganews. I know some of the files were posted in 2013 in "alt.bin.sounds.jazz.lossless". My example is <some shit>. When I entered into the search in NB, all that came up was the par files. Then I remembered Forte Agent(old version, slow as hell) is also installed on this computer. I searched using Agent and all the rar files where there also. I downloaded them, used Quickpar, which repaired them in less than a minute. So now I'm double checking everything. Is there some setting that I need to check/reset in NB. Also when I use Agent, all the front, back, insert, and cd jpgs are listed and available for download. It beats the sh!t out of going to cd/dvd covers websites with all the popups of crap no-one wants. 8)

what version are you using?

- I'd click "Open Data Folder" from the options.

- Delete "Filters.db3" which deletes the filter

- Restart

- Don't select a group when you search.

See what happens.

I see results from the group you mention. 2500 days old. Might be too old for Giganews to deliver.

I'd start off by just searching for the first two words initially. Don't post what you're searching for here. You can PM the specific.

Thanks for answering and the advice. I'm using NB 6.72. I tried it and got the same results. Using Forte Agent 4.2/32 I retrieved all the headers and downloaded them.

Make sure you don't have any size filters set. You should get exactly the same results I did.

How many results are you getting? I'm getting 186 here.

You can download headers with Newsbin too easily enough, right click the group and "Download all Headers".

What's your "storage age" set to?

I assume you have the search tab set to "Internet".

I don't have any filters set. I don't have any age limit set either. The search is set to Internet. I also switched from the Europe to U.S. severs. Same results. I only get the par headers.

The only storage I can find relates to the Data file, and it is set to 60.

Set the "Storage Age" to 3000, restart and then see what happens.

Maybe there's a bug in that the storage age is deleting the results.
