Where is my download disappearing to?

Postby zforray » Mon Jan 30, 2017 11:47 pm

Latest RC2. I am trying to download a 20GB 7z file. It goes through the process (I am watching the download size/amount/count grow), ends with no errors, creates the download directory but the file is 0-bytes? There are pars which when I force download (2GB), they appear but still no 20GB file? Tried 3-times

Is the download turning red? Sounds like nothing is downloading if none of the RAR files land.

PM me the subject and group and I'll take a look.

No, it is green the whole time. I think it is one, large file. No rars. After it finished downloading, it turns blue.

Go the PM.

Couldn't download the NZB but found the file and pars using our search engine. It's nearly 50 gigs meaning you need to have at least 50 gigs available in the data folder drive as well as 100 more gigs free if it needs repair. It's a shitty way to post something like this. Probably sourced from a torrent. I'll have to free up some space before I can even attempt it.

The way it'll look in Newsbin is that it'll download all 50 gigs into the data folder, chunk folder, then at some point it'll have to paste all 50 gigs worth of chunks together into a file. That's what that zero byte file probably is. The file it's assembling. It's not clear why it never finished assembling but if this download took a long time to complete, like multiple days then it's possible the oldest chunks have been purged before the file completes.

I have high-speed/220MB download Comcast. Takes 20-25 minutes to download each time. I have over 100GB free in my D: drive which is the Newsbin target and almost 90GB free on my C: drive.

Download worked for me. I had to make sure to download the PAR files first. It's not clear why it didn't work for you. It's not something that would be DMCA'd. You might want to look in the chunks folder and see if you have 42 gigs worth of chunks sitting in there. Did it end up going to the failed list by any chance?

Nothing in failed and very little in Chunks. 105GB free on the C: drive where chunks is located and now over 300GB on the main NewsBin drive folder. Just changed the UnRar file to someplace specific.

This shouldn't matter because Newsbin won't un-7Z the file. Might want to check the recycle bin too.

I have no idea how to proceed. I tried the download, again, and it did the same thing. Went through downloading the ~20GB file and stopped. It did not download the pars so I forced it via "Resume Download" but it has finished and is sitting there. I checked and Chunks has 16.7GB of files in there. Checked recycle and only the nzb is there.

Moved things around and now have over 200GB free space on all drives. The UnRar directory I pointed it to is empty.

If you have the good download, is there any way you can put it someplace for me to grab it?

You're looking in the actual download folder for this 7z file right? Not just the unrar folder. I don't expect you'll find it in the unrar folder even if it worked.

You don't see any errors in the logging tab?

1 - I might manually set the download path to something shallow like "C:\DL\" then manually make the "DL" folder.

2 - I'd clear out the chunks folder (use Open Data Folder in the options). Then start the download again. Pause it when you get 1 gig into the download and then look in the chunks folder. Then you might want to allow some more to download and repeat while looking in the logging tab for errors too.

All the chunks should be tagged some random but common prefix with a pair of numbers. You should be able to allow the chunks to count up as it downloads. If during the course of the download, you see the lower numbered chunks vanish, that might be part of the problem. If you get 2 gigs in and have no chunks, that suggest it's just not downloading.

I'm assuming your cache line looks something like (0/200) when you start.

Currently it is still in download-queue with the STATUS N: constantly changing and RETRY at 19.

The N got down to 0 (I guess - wasn't watching it) and then RETRY bumped to 20 and started all over again......Last time I tried Assemble Incompletes and it was removed from Downloading

Yes, there are some errors from last night. Didn't see those the first time I tried downloading. How did you download it?

I give up. It just won't work and I can't keep constantly downloading 20GB, over and over - Comcast is eventually going to notice (last month I downloaded over 700GB).

Thanks for trying to help with this.....

The problem is your news server. That's what this message tells you. The files aren't that old. You could try right clicking the file and "assemble incompletes" but it looks like enough is missing it might not be able to be repaired.

Your news server is returning "I don't have parts of the file" errors.
