Postby Alienns » Wed Jun 23, 2010 9:11 pm

Hi,
I always avoid forums with crap questions, but this error i have is pretty annoing :(
I have same error everytime when i start NewsBin than i need to KILL all connections everytiem i want to use NewsBin than after that NewsBin start to work as should.
But when i`m not using SSL NewsBin work ok. I have same errors on Easynews, Usenetserver and here on astraweb since 2-3 years. Even i changed from wiresless meantime to ADSL nothing changed and even i changed whole computer hardware meantime. Still getting same error. Eh i have windows 7 now and this error still exist.

[02:04:54] Level: ERROR SERVER=ssl-us.astraweb.com, MSG=Unable to read Greetings from Server: Socket - Read From Server Failed

[02:03:38] Level: ERROR MODULE=InterSocket, MSG=SSL Connection Failed: 10053 - Line: 499

edit: Sometimes i open a newsbin and click to update to download latest headers for few groups i watching than go to eat and when i`m back after 20 min log is full of this error message and even one byte is not downloaded. So i need to stay all tiem here and watch on log it will start or not....
Any solution for this?

Hopefully some of the other AW people will chime in. I use SSL to PowerUsenet and Giga and don't get this error. How many connections are you using? How about cutting it back to 4 and see if it still happens.

What version are you running? If it's not 5.55, it ought to be.

I`m using 3 connections, i have 4 mbit and there is no use to put more connections because download is max even with 2.

I have this problem since v5 released... And yes, i`m using 5.55 and now i installed 5.56 rc2 and same problem like with every other version in past few years :(

I am on GigaNews and Virgin in the last week I have the exact same problem. after a bit of t'intert searching I found that Virgin kinda knows which port you are connecting on for the Usenet (http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/12/33 ... ports.html) and that changing the Port to 443 will make a difference. I now have no more probs and gone from 9mbs to almost 52Mbs!!! JOB DONE!
