NewsBin 6 Bata 10 downloading files over and over again

Postby daguenet » Thu Apr 21, 2011 9:05 pm

I installed beta 10 earlier and it started downloading files from groups that I auto download from that were up to 400 days old. I set these files to old in the group window and the next update these files were being downloaded again. I had other groups where files were reported as download and then after the next update the same files were downloaded again.

There's a default 50 post overlap (which will be 5 posts in B11). You know, any group that returns 400 day old posts doing this is a dead group. That means it's had 50 posts or fewer in the past 400 days.

So why is it trying to download articles that are marked as old and ones that have been downloaded before? Beta 9 does not do this.

During a header download, it's downloading 50 posts that overlap the previous header download. Since you have some dead groups, those 50 posts just happen to be 400 day old posts.

How about the posts that are marked as old it still downloads and then downloads articles it has already download in groups that are not "dead" I.E. they have posts that are less then a hour old and they are downloaded then the update happens and they are downloaded again. Is this the same 50 post overlap? If so I'll stick with B9 until it does not happen anymore.

As this went on I had 15 copies of many different posts from groups that have new post all the time. I re-installed B9 and the problem has gone completely away.

I explained why it was happening twice, I saw no point to try again.

So your saying that you download that last 50 articles whether they have been downloaded or not? Is that right? I took it you meant that Newsbin downloaded that last 50 headers as the overlap, that makes sense, but to just download the articles whether have been downloaded or not does not make any sense to me.
