Stuck download files

Postby mpoirier » Tue May 24, 2011 10:22 am

Hello,

I have this new problem where files in the download list will stick there at the end of the download.

The download is complete because I can unzip the files ok...

Is this a beta thing ? Using x64 v6.0b14 build 952.

Did you disable "UnRAR" in the autopar options? Do these files have PAR files?

No, most downloads unrar and clear the list correctly.

Only a few stay in the download list, event though they too unrar successfully...

Back to my original question, do these files that don't unrar have PAR files?

I have a related problem. Some downloads with pars complete just fine, others will download and not unrar - yet if I open quick par they check out fine and will extract just fine using winrar, others yet that will unrar yet the pars are stuck in the download list.

Additional errors that I have noted. The beta crashes at times when I click on a list to close it. I will have a group header list open click to close and bam it crashes. I will try to see if there is a pattern to this. It does not happen every time, but over the weekend this happened probably 5 or 6 times.

I have one other strange issue that appears to be isolated to large downloads of single header. It happened three times in just the last 6 hours. I have been downloading a very large file set of 200 plus rars all for the same header . Part way through the download it just stops processing and the status changesto paused yet I had not done so. Tried to restart the DL and nothing happens. The only way around it was to close Newsbin and then restart Newsbin by doing that the download restarted each time.

I realize these issues may not be related, but since two of them involve downloads I figured post it here rather then separate topic. If you need additional information just let me know.

Thanks for the great product.

An FYI on the downloads stopping. I have no way to prove this theory - I suspect that Charter was doing something to block the traffic. The timing of the issue appearing and getting a phone call the next day saying I am using too much bandwidth ... well you get my drift I'm sure. I will let you know if it happens again after I get the service issue resolved with Charter.

Well, if your server supports it, you can always try alternate ports.

I think I found a pattern: I have a lot of stuff in the Download List (most complete, some not), so I often use C-S-e or otherwise move stuff I want 'now' to the top. This will download in the order of the queue, but the repair/UnRAR process seems to get to things when it's good and ready. It seems to be quietly working things off in some other order (with very little visual progress), sometimes dealing with multiple 35GB+ sets that are low in the list, so the top entries seem stuck, even if they are completely downloaded.

Restarting newsbin seems to reset this invisible work queue and start decoding from the top.
