No more usenet search

Postby RayMark » Sat Nov 28, 2020 1:28 pm

Recently I got an e-mail from PayPal:
Your automatic payment is no longer active
And indeed, the search is no longer working.
PayPal says:
You’ll need to contact DJI Interprises, LLC for more details or to reactivate your automatic payments.
In other words, PayPal seems to agree to reactivate the recurring payments.
But I found only an option with a card, no more PayPal at all.
Well, perhaps PayPal lied.

One day out of the blue Paypal said "we're not handling you anymore". It's not like we can protest it.

Yeah, unfortunately a credit card through our website is the only choice right now. If you don't have a credit card, we can make arrangements to take payments through our distributor for a new key but apply the $30 towards a Search subscription instead. Just leave a note in the Comments to the Author section and we'll make sure it gets set. It's a manual process so it won't be immediate but we'll be keeping our eyes open for those requests. Link is on the http://www.newsbinpro.com/buy-newsbin.htm page, click "Buy Now" and select a lifetime Newsbin key.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks, I used a visa debit card without problems.
Actually, I have never seen a transaction confirmed faster. Faster than I was able to release the mouse button.

Is this option open to anyone who comes across this message? I'd rather use Paypal than keep pushing CC #'s if I can avoid it.

Yes, please enter a note in the "Notes to Author" section about how you would like the $30 applied (standard or unlimited level) and if you could put your key there it would save me some time looking you up.

Thanks for your speed in responding.

I think it worth saying that I find that your engine often gets results when other major engines draw a blank especially with obfuscated posts. Watching Newsbin pulling in disjointed posts, appearing to freeze and then magically transforming the mess into more recognisable RARs makes me feel like a caveman watching an outsider pull out a lighter and start a fire instantly. I have tried to manually download some of these obfuscated posts and attempt to make something with them with no success.

Newsbin and the search engine has grown so much in the years I have used it and helped me move from my early BBS days. Subscribing to Newsbin so many years ago was one of the most inspired things I ever did. Thanks, dexter
