6.90RC6: "Full speed" and "Enabled" buttons random behaviour

This is about the "Full speed" and "Enabled" buttons in the status bar (bottom right).

When you click either with the mouse, they are turned ON (--> Limited speed & Paused) but after a random number of seconds they "automatically" turn OFF again without any user activity.

This is pretty irritating as the expected behaviour is: manual user action to turn those limiters ON, and staying ON until a subsequent user action (another click on them) happens.

Previous versions of Newsbin already had this issue as well, but then the 'timeout' (or whatever it is) seemed longer; now it's mere seconds before your choice is disabled again.

Scenario when this has been observed repeatedly:

- download some large NZBs
- click those words in the statusbar to have them light up and change status while a large(ish) RAR is being **unpacked**.
- observe Newsbin quickly turning those limiters back OFF.
- rinse & repeat while the downloads and unpack actions continue.

Have you set the scheduled options? If set this can cause the behaviour you describe.

(Checked just now...)

Scheduler settings are all-green and "Enabled" checkbox is ticked.

Hmmm...
IIRC I never used the Scheduler in NewsBin (since ~ 2012 AD). I always start it manually and let it rip until it's done; when I come home I check the machine and quit NewsBin manually when it's all done (or stuck somewhere, which happens rarely).

One of those boxes on the status bar can enable it.

I had the same problem awhile ago. Check your settings under Newsbin Options - Network

Typically this is the scheduler overriding the manual settings.

A-HA!

Found the culprit!

Next to the "Full Speed" button in the bottom status bar, there's (to the right) an "Enabled" button with tooltip "Switch between Scheduler Modes".

Clicking /THAT/ one to make it show the text "Disabled" solves the problem of the "Pause" and "Speed Limited" activations disappearing quickly: while there's no sane schedule (Options has the scheduler tab as all-green, 24/7) the scheduler was still activated, killing the manual overrides for running and download speed.

The cure is to make sure the right-most of the three buttons in the status bar is set to "Disabled".

Problem solved!

Thanks for all the feedback and solid advice; I had completely overlooked that one; I needed your tips to ensure I got everything checked.

---------------

Why was that scheduler /enabled/ in the first place? I don't know. Must be me having clicked on it one day (long ago) while aiming for the download speed button next to it; I'm not always at my sharpest when I use NewsBin Pro - which is generally accessed just before bed-time: the gathered fruit is inspected in the days afterwards. ;-)

A case of fault between chair and keyboard, i.e. me.
