System dead, time to replace.
Can someone point me to documentation on transferring Newsbin to a new system, preserving as much information as possible.

Do you have access to the old hard drive?

Do you know where the data folder is on the old drive?

That'll determine whether it's possible to copy the data across.

The old system is on it's last legs, but still functional. I have access to all files.

Would appreciate any guidance, or a pointer to documentation. I'm sure other people have upgraded their systems.

1 - On the old system, start Newsbin then select "Open Data Folder"

2 - Exit Newsbin

3 - Copy this folder over to the new system. It might be pretty big.

4 - You can put it pretty much anywhere it doesn't have to be in "C:\User\"

5 - On the new machine, look in the folder for the file "Newsbin.nbi"

6 - Edit this file with wordpad.
At the very least you need to set the "DataPath= {Folder you made on the new system}
You should verify every path in the NBI file to make sure they point to a valid location. Like you might want to change the "DownloadPath={Valid download path on the new system{

7 - Assuming Newsbin is already installed on the new system, double-click the NBI from the new data folder. This should load up the old NBI and make it the current configuration.

There are some potential issues still. The Download and Unrar paths are set already in the downloads in the download list. If you have items in the download list when you copy everything across, they might be pointing to the wrong path.
