how to switch back to beta 3 behaviour in beta 4?

Postby RayMark » Tue Aug 09, 2011 9:39 pm

Seems that the interface changed, or perhaps it is now more configurable, but how to get the previous groups | search | open group 1 | open group 2 |
tabs side by side, and when switching just switch without this animation from top downwards?
Also it would be nice if the switch required a click.

In other words, in beta 3 everything was fine, beta 4 seems to be "improved".
Or just my settings somehow were not retained in beta 4, not sure.

Not really following. The only real change is the tabs show on the bottom now. Use "View/Switch Tab Position"

beta 3 had a very good interface, beta 4 - something terrible - animated - badly hurting eyes, switching without click , floating everywhere, disappearing windows, partially overlapped.

I thought, in beta 4 the crashing issue was fixed, but at the same time the interface became unusable.
Please, can you get the old interface back?

The animation is the worst - this gradual rolling of the lines instead of switching at once.
It is so bad for eyes.

Then the download list disappears.
And search window sometimes is at the top, sometimes at the bottom, who knows where,
And the groups window and open group windows switch marely by moving the mouse, without a click - they switch before I close my eyes - because of that rolling down animation it is not possible to look at the screen at that time.
Everything is terrible.

OK, I think this weird behavior of the interface was some glitch or a bug.
After restarting NewsBin - it is pretty normal now.
All this crazy animation is gone.

Probably it was not made deliberately but NewsBin went out of control

Thank you very much, such a relief ,I was in panic .

Are you accessing this machine remotely or something? The odd display issues you saw are very strange. I haven't seen anything like this myself, ever.

No, not remotely.

But after upgrading to beta 4 the whole interface became alive, impossible to control.
I thought it was done deliberately, but now I see that it was a glitch.
Everything is back to normal after restarting and after docking the search window, etc. back in its old place.

If you moved the search tab then it was self induced. Search tab has to stay open and docked if you want the post lists to be docked.

I'm afraid to try again :)

It's not just that the search window kept changing its location and size, but all the others as well, and tabs were switching without click, and tabs were switched not at once but by a gradual unwrapping from the top.
Very strange things.

Quade is almost certainly right :don't be afraid, just don't close the search pane. I think the sooner that becomes impossible to do, the better.

I now switched to beta 5.

I tried this:
I deliberately closed (with "hide") the search pane.
Then opened a group - it covered the whole NewsBin window, nothing else left visible, no groups tab, no download list, nothing, and not possible to move it (unless made floating).
Anyway, I closed it, launched "search" pane from the menu, and then everything is back to normal.

I don't think that it is a normal behavior.
When you say "do not close search" - that means that it is a known bug?

Anyway, I was not able to reproduce the animated behavior, that gradual rolling down effect.
Or switching between tabs without mouse click, just by moving the mouse over a tab.
These things probably were caused by a one time glitch.

The bug is, you shouldn't be able to close the Search tab. It is required for the Post tabs to have something to anchor to when they are opened (it's a GUI thing). Quade is looking into a solution.
