Transfer license to new computer

Postby alfke » Wed Jun 04, 2025 1:59 pm

So I'm getting a new computer for the first time in 13 years and its quite powerful. Now I have a few questions:

1) Is there a procedure to transfer my Newsbin license from my old system to the new? My old system will be online while I make the transfer so hopefully this helps with digital activation/deactivation.

2) This new system and 3 Gig fiber internet should make my Newsbin downloads a bit/lot quicker. Which Newsbin settings do I need to change for maximum speed and unraring? My old system chugs a lot with default settings so I want to make the new system go wild with speed. My provider is Newshosting if that makes any difference and the new system has 64GB of DDR5 ram.

I'm currently using Newsbin 6.91 RC3 - Build 5855

Let me know if more information is required

Thanks

You can just re-register Newsbin on the new machine with your existing key. We allow 3 simultaneous installs. We just hope it's just you using it.

The limiting factor for download speed is probably the server itself. I get 1 GBPS to Usenetserver using 20 connections. I'd suggest experimenting with connections. Too many connections might slow it down.
