Toolbar icons are way to small on my 32" 4K monitor.

Postby Streetwolf » Wed Mar 11, 2020 11:08 am

I run at 3840x2160 4K. DPI is 200%. Even setting the toolbar icons to large they appear tiny. This has been going on even when I was using a 24" monitor running at 1920x1200. Any chance of making them bigger in my situation? Unfortunately any screenshot I take shows everything a lot larger for some reason than they are in reality.

Have you checked the large icons in customize/options?I'm on a 24 inch monitor and the icons are big enough for me.Just reread you already set them, might be another setting then.

If you look in the shortcut that starts Newsbin. I believe there are some scaling options to make it scale for 4K monitors.

You are correct. I changed the scaling to 'System Enhanced' and now they are larger.

One result of changing the DPI compatibility option is that I no longer see the progress bar when downloading. I think the problem is related to using a high DPI rather than the monitor resolution although the two usually go hand in hand. Based on other programs I use that used to have a similar problem with small icons the developers made changes to their programs to make icons larger on HiDPI settings. Probably something with DPI Awareness. Have you looked into this at all?

Here's a picture I took with my camera. I'm back to my original DPI settings for NewsBin. I'm using large icons. In actuality everything shown is a little smaller than it appears in the picture.

Changing the NewsBin DPI settings at least doubles the size of the icons. But as mentioned no progress bar.

It looks like you have Newsbin shrunk down to the point the download list contents aren't displayed. I assume this is a cropped image and not the full display? If not then maybe you need to turn windows scaling back down to properly use the DPI scaling.

What does it look like if you full-screen Newsbin by hitting the top right box on the title bar.

My bad. Changing the DPI compatibility for Newsbn for some reason moved the progress bar off of my visible screen. I was looking at the wrong thing as the progress bar is in that position under normal conditions. I had to rearrange the order of things. All is as it should be.
