Some NZB files are not properly read/parsed (showing smaller

Postby aneurysm » Tue Nov 26, 2024 7:26 am

Hi,

I'm on 6.91B7 build 5731 for several years (if it ain't broke ... Image link not allowed for unregistered users ) but I've had some nzb's the last weeks that are not properly "read" by newsbin.
example ..nzb file should be for 60 Gb, but newsbin tells it's 12Gb. It starts downloading, and it downloads around 60 GB (minus some par files), but then goes to "failed files"
If I look at the downloaded file, which should be a big video file, it shows that file being 0 bytes big.

It's not the nzb file, cause I just tried it in sabdnzb .. and it works without a problem there.
I presume some new kind of posting that newsbin is maybe not parsing correctly ?

I can provide a nzb for you to test with if needed. Or does the new version fix this already ? (I haven't read much about it in the comments)

regards

Sure send me the NZB to try. Ts at newsbin dot com.

Still, you should try the latest RC which is 6.91RC3. I suspect it's already fixed.

Thanks.

63 gigs. I'm using RC4 though which isn't public. I believe the fix is in RC3 too.

The issue is that unlike traditional downloads, that 63 gigs is a single file. It has 86,000 posts whereas a rar set would have files with only 50-250 posts. Older Newsbin versions capped the total post count as a sanity check. This new posting style, was more than the limit. So, I had to change the limit and actually re-work how I handle posts because of how many there are in a single file.

If you want to download these, you'll need to use the newer version.

These kind of NZB's work best if you send them directly to the download list. No first loading to a post list.

There's special handling when NZB's are fed directly to the download list.

I also have a problem with the latest beta. Nowadays, more and more things are being uploaded as a complete file. Most of the time there are ISO files with more than 50 GB as one file. Newsbin downloads it, but it always puts the par files into the failed files window. The file is then not repaired and I have a damaged file with 50 or more gigabytes on the hard drive. Is there perhaps a solution?

Is the large file damaged? Newsbin will delete the pars once it determines the file they reference is good. In the autopar options, you can make sure it deletes to recycle bin then look there for the par files after the download completes. You could retrieve the PARs from the recycle bin and then run them against the large file with QuickPar.

I'm going to guess that all the pars downloaded because they didn't group with the large file then after the last par downloaded, the set of pars was sent to the failed list because they there's nothing to repair yet. Then when the big file finally downloads, Newsbin checks it against the PARS then deletes the pars.

Most files don't need to be repaired.
