The Logging folder in the Data Folder

Postby redphyve » Thu Feb 19, 2026 12:24 pm

I don't know if this is a PEBCAC error or a faulty installation...you can decide...

I noticed that the available space on my data drive was slowly decreasing. Cleaning up unused programs resulted in a small improvement that over time decreased and decreased. Eventually I deleted and moved all programs to another drive, leaving only the data folder. Eventually I had about 30 gigs of space left, making Newsbin stall under big downloads, 20+gigs. By this time I was at my wits end and couldn't figure out what the hell was happening.

Another forum suggested using Wiztree to get a visual representation and once installed it, noticed the Logging Folder was taking up an inordinate amount of space, 70gigs. I had never actually checked that folder, assuming it would not hold anything significant. I was wrong. the log files dated back to I think 2012...and once I deleted everything except Feb 2026, I had regained 91gigs of space.

So if anyone is running out of space...maybe look at the Logging folder in your newsbin data folder.
