Just Curious: How are files "de-obfuscated"?

Postby mister_loaf » Fri Feb 19, 2021 8:39 pm

I suppose you don't want to reveal whatever super-secret technology you are using, but I'm curious.

How does "ad0e25aeb1764c2cb0236f534eff3024"

get turned into

"<some show on tv>"

I'm not really clear about that myself. What I suspect is the people posting, post to the groups then hand matching NZB's to their pals and eventually they propogate their way to the search engines. Then as people download and or scrape the sites they propagate around.

I have wondered if these numbers relate back to the original torrents for the downloads but I haven't found that information.

I thought about that myself. Obfuscating can be done manually, by creating the PAR files with the correct names. And then renaming the RARs afterwards. When you load the fileset including the *.par2, the archives should be renamed automatically.
