Watch topics Auto Download problem...

Pro 6.81

I created a watch list, and ran it on 8/19/2020 00:04

Then I came in today and opened Newsbin. The group the watch list is watching updated at 8/20/2021 18:55 and found 262 new files.

The problem is the watch list is showing 0 new files, and was (still) last updated at: 8/19/2020 00:04

What should I be looking at that might be keeping it from firing off?

As always, thanks!

Header or search based watch topic? Header based need you to actually download new headers. Search based should fire off on their own.

Well I just opened it, and it fired on its own. It also pulled ALL new files. I have it set for HEADER DOWNLOAD.

Let me set my search term to "puttyworld" and see if it still wants to pull all new files the next time it fires.

In the mean time, which do you recommend?

1. Source: Header Download or Internet?

If you have a search subscription, I'd probably use search. If you don't, you'll need to use headers. Search can find things in the headers that normal headers don't show.

It's pretty dependent on what you're searching for though.

I don't have enough details from your description to know what's going on.

OK, for example, I want to open Newsbin, and have it automatically download the latest copy of PuttyWorld if anyone has posted it, so I set up this watch list:

The problem I am encountering is that even though the headers have auto-downloaded for the groups when I open Newsbin, the watch list isn't firing:

(As you can see, it knows there are 7,3445 new files, but its update date is 2 days ago--in short, the Watch Topic is not firing and doing its job.

Also, do have an internet search account, and I take it that using "Internet" search instead of "Header Download" will instead use that internet search account for the searching?

Right click the group select "Show all Posts" and see if you can find "puttyworld". I can't. As far as I can tell it was never posted to that group. I tried just "putty" too.

I tried it in search and it's not showing anything either.

At this point it doesn't seem to be "it's not working" but is instead "It's not there".

6.81 is decently old. I'd run 6.90 if I was you.

When I go to the downloads page, it says that 6.82 (Dec 29, 2019) is the most recent version.

And, let me switch over my search term to something generic that *will* find files....

today|review|times

------------------Update:

That DID pull a British publication Organists' Review, (The magazine of the Incorporated Association of Organists.) (Apparently England has a LOT of organs and organ players!)

And, the Watch Topic DID update to the current date and time, so... problem solved for now.

But, I would like to upgrade to the latest release on Newsbin, but can only find that 2019 release.

The beta is listed here in the forum. The link should also be in the message of the day window.
