Version 6.20 Release Candidate 1 Available...

Postby dexter » Thu Nov 17, 2011 10:26 pm

Version 6.20 has entered Release Candidate status. It seems to be very stable and we've completed the planned changes for this version. Given our history, there will probably be a couple of more Release Candidates but our intention is that this will be the final release unless something critical comes up.

Summary:

  • Fixed the long standing issue of ctrl-F4 not closing tabs. Probably need to delete workspace.xml before this will start working
  • Can now assign passwords for encrypted RAR sets from a couple of different places.
  • Fixed issue with server counts not working.
  • Fixed some issues with the TCP Interface (NBRemote)

More information and the download link is on the Newsbin Beta Page.

Yeah, fixed already. It'll be in the next RC.

This has been happening to me with many of the previous betas as well as with RC1. Occasionally Pars are not getting downloaded to fix 'bad' Rars. I have to manually get them going. The next time this happens what should I do to provide you with some debugging info?

Using x64 Newsbin running under W7 x64 sp1.

Would you be able to put the "File Assemble" rename fix in again? When the file downloads, but fails to assemble, it leaves the nb2 again. I think in 6.19, you managed to have it rename the files if it failed to assemble.

Thanks

Not sure what you mean. I downloaded an incomplete file and when I right click "Assemble Incompletes" it assembled and got the correct filename.

Got an issue with combining files (in the list) on a.b.ebooks.
I get the rar as (say) 1/4 then the par2 as 2/4 but not combined with the rar file. (hope that makes sense)
like
file.rar yenc (1/4) xxx
file.rar par2 yenc (2/4) xxx

rather than
file.rar yenc (x/y) xxx

Been happening with last couple of beta's & this rc. (this is with new files last couple of weeks)

You should find that even when they do not get combined into a single download list entry the current beta will still realise that the files belong together and handle them correctly at the autopar level just as if they had been combined.

Possibly but since I use NB to generate nzb's they don't get combined when I select the (what looks like the real one with the + icon on it) par2 files that is all that is sent to the downloader I use (sabnbzd on a separate low power pc)

I guess the question is "does it matter"? Just select them both and generate an NZB the combines both lines. Actually compacting the groups of files is a running battle. It can never be 100% because many people don't use the defacto standard for posting.

Sorry, I know RC2 is out, but when I mentioned the Assembly error, I meant that when I run into memory problems, the files download "complete" but I get the "unable to MAP" and "Assembly Failed" lines. I leaves the files marked "downloaded" as NB2 files. Running a par2 shows that all the files are complete but renamed. After one point in 6.19, I think you allowed the file to rename itself correctly even if it failed assembly. Some guys are posting monstrous sized files which are making me run into these problems. I've tried "assembling incompletes" but it doesn't rename the file because Ithink it marked its a "downloaded" complete already.

Thanks

Have you turned on the /3gb switch? I suspect the problem is you're running out of address space and that's why the filemap is failing. Newsbin is using enough RAM that there's no room to map the file. /3gb will give you an extra gig of address space to play with. It's documented some where here in the forum but, google will tell you how to do it. If you don't want to set that flag, you need to reduce RAM usage or maybe switch to 64 bit windows. Being able to map the file is fundamental to newsbin working.

I think you're saying "it used to rename even if the filemap failed". I'll check that out.

Thanks Quade, yeah, that's what I meant... it used to rename even if the filemap failed. I'll look for that post about the 3gb switch.
