NBRemote for iOS open beta invitation

Postby Jonny » Sat Aug 27, 2011 9:03 pm

As Quade has been busy working on the remote interface, I have been busy refining the iOS app. The app now supports all of the functionality offered by the remote interface of the latest alpha version Newsbin Pro, 6.01B6 build 1255.

Newsbin Beta 6 is near release to the public, and in anticipation of that I am now moving NBremote into the public beta phase. If YOU want to help me create a stunning piece of remote client, you are invited to join the beta test program.

Just open the link http://bit.ly/qaHtBj on your device to register it as a beta test device, and send me a message here on http://forums.newsbin.com/ucp.php?i=pm&mode=compose&u=2899 telling me what makes you a great beta tester. Don't forget to tell me under what name you registered your device.

I have been releasing new alpha versions daily the last couple of weeks, but as I move the app into public beta I will release new versions at a slower rate.

The current beta is created for the iPhone, but it works equally well on the iPad as a full screen app. I am currently working on adapting the iPad style GUI (split screen), this will be released in a coming beta.

hello Jonny,

I've got a quick question before I'm going to test this beta for you (if you let me)
for my work I'm mostly away from home all week, so I'm only able to test this app and give you findings during the weekends.
I know that's not much, therefore I first want to know if it would be of help to you when I decide to sign up for this testing.
btw I intent to use this app on iPad (don't have an iPhone)

You can count me in. I have an iPod Touch 3rd generation, an iPod Touch 4th generation and an iPad 2. Of course, I've been using NewsBin for years. It will be interesting to see how it works on iOS devices.

Keep in mind that you're remote controlling Newsbin through the device. Not running Newsbin ON it. In that way the PC still does all the heavy lifting.

The problem with beta testing on iOS is that Apple allows only a limited number of DEVICES per YEAR to be associated with a particular developer account. I suspect that Jonny is simply running out of his allocation which is why he closed the beta.

Yes, I can only have 100 devices in my device list, and I do develop other apps as well.

Sorry for that, but it is Apple that sets the rules.
